Welcome to the Stony Plain Minor Hockey Evaluation and Team Formation process.
Evaluation information and schedules will be posted below as it becomes available.

- Evaluations will begin with a scheduled skill skate where your athlete will be evaluated on a series of skills stations that are the same as were set in the prep skate offered. You will be notified in advance of the date, time, and location of this session.
- From here, your athlete will be placed in a group depending on their score during the skill skate portion. You will receive communication notifying you when their next session is scheduled, which will involve a scrimmage within their group.
- Depending on the evaluator's scores, your child will either stay in the group for the next scheduled scrimmage or they could move up a group or down a group. Again you will be notified when they are scheduled to attend the next scrimmage.
- Similar to the previous step, you will be notified of your athlete's next and last scheduled scrimmage. After this session, your athlete’s evaluation is complete. Based on the evaluation, you will be notified what team your athlete has been placed on for the season.

The evaluation process is carried out by a third-party objective contractor Hockey Evaluations which can be found online at hockeyevaluations.com

Players are placed in alphabetical groupings for the evaluation Skates. An email will be sent out by the division director closer to evaluations with skate times. U7 Players are evaluated by in-house evaluators.

Hello! My name is Kristin Chessor and I will be the U7 director for the 2024-2025 hockey season. I have been a part of the SPMHA family for the past 8 years and I currently have 3 kids playing in minor hockey. Most of my time in the winter is spent at the arena with a coffee in hand. I am excited for the opportunity to be a part of the board this year and looking forward to the upcoming season.

Hi! My name is Kauri Funk and I am entering my second year as the U9 director! I decided to join the association to get a better understanding of the mechanics of our association and Hockey Canada! I chose U9 because this is when my child decided to start and it felt like I was way “too late” and a little lost! Which is totally NOT the case! My wish is to help create a safe, fun and fair playing field for the kids in our association. I look forward to the 24/25 season! Heads up! Stick down!

Hello, my name is Rob Olivier and I am the U11 Director for the upcoming season. I am excited to take on this role and work with all the parents, coaches and players to have a fun and exciting season.
I have been involved in hockey for 44 yrs as a player, coach, director, spectator, referee, RIC, time keeper and parent. If I am not coaching or officiating, you’ll find me at the rink supervising junior officials. Please feel free to strike up a conversation with me if you see me at the rink.

Hello all,
I’m the U15 Director. I am a new hockey parent; my son joined Onoway last year in U7. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we ended up spending our first year in Stony Plain Minor Hockey. We had such an amazing welcome and experience during our first year.
I believe in giving back to my community, so after our first year in SPMHA, I volunteered to be on the Board of Directors. I am very excited to take this journey with you all and can’t wait to meet everyone.

My name is Randee Stewart and I am the U18 Director for the 2024/2025 hockey season.
This will be my second year being a director with SPMHA. (Previously U11 Director for the 2023/2024 season).
I have one child playing hockey this year and she will be going into her first year of U15.
My family and I moved here a year ago from Hinton, so even though this is only the second year being apart of SMPHA I have been involved in hockey for the 9 years that my daughter has been playing.
