Coach Applications are open and previous experience is not required. Applications are open to all interested individuals and all potential coaches are encouraged to apply. Coaches who are applying to be Head Coach with SPMHA must provide a sample practice plan at coach interviews.
If you have further questions, need support in developing a practice plan, or require assistance, please contact the Coach Director.
Getting Started
SPMHA acknowledges the significance of our coaches and the countless volunteer hours they dedicate to our athletes and the association. We are grateful for your tireless efforts. Thank you!
Head Coaches, please send an email to registration@spmha.net to arrange your access for the season and obtain the necessary information for the season ahead.
Head Coach interviews will be held on the following dates. Interview time slot selection opens on August 15th.
1. Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check
All CRC/VSS must be obtained in person from the RCMP. To waive the processing fee, SPMHA must verify your volunteer commitment. Please contact the Coach Director or your Head Coach/Team Manager for a volunteer letter.
CRC/VSS are only accepted by email. Please upload a copy of your completed CRC/VSS to the documents section of your Spordle Profile and email a copy to the Coach Director. If you do not submit a valid CRC/VSC or complete the required qualifications, before November 10th your name will be removed from the roster.
2. Respect in Sport – Activity Leader Certificate
The Respect in Sport Activity Leader/Coach Program educates coaches and activity leaders to recognize, understand, and respond to issues of bullying, abuse, harassment, and discrimination. It may be the single most important training leaders receive to assist in creating a safe, healthy, and respectful environment for all participants. This is a minimum requirement for all coaches.
This course expires every four years. If you are unsure when your course expires, please look up your certificate in your Hockey Canada Account.
