What you need to know:

SPMHA can be fined and/or receive demerit penalties if we do not have experienced workers in certain positions.  Before signing up please ensure you read the description below. If you would like to work a cage position or be trained in the cage, please email registration@spmha.net

CHAIRPERSON: Must be trained and have previous cage experience as Special Games Controller and Paymaster.

SPECIAL GAMES CONTROLLER: Must be trained and have previous cage experience.

PAYMASTER: Previous cage experience is not necessary but must have floor experience.

$1, $2, and Pull Ticket Sellers do not require experience.

Each bingo worked earns $75 in credit for the following season. Once you commit to a shift it is your responsibility to ensure it is worked. Failure to do so will result in a charge of $300 to your account and must be cleared before your player(s) will be permitted to participate in any/all SPMHA activities including evaluations, practices, games, etc. -Bingo Policy (24.0)

You may sign up for as many credits as you need to cover registration fees for the following year* for each player in your family.  Once you have credit for the following season registration fees, additional shifts can be worked if it falls within 2 weeks of the bingo date and there is availability.

Credits are accrued between April 1st and March 31st of the following hockey season.

* Since we can’t guarantee what the following year’s registration fees may be, the calculation is based on current registration fees

You are required to fundraise $200 for each player for the coming season.  An e-transfer of $200 per player or post-dated cheque (dated no later than November 15th) must be provided to your division director prior to the first evaluation skate. Please notify your division director if you will be sending an e-transfer. Payment can be sent to:

Be sure you identify the player’s full name and division in the e-transfer.

As is the case every year, players will not be able to participate on a team until you have met the fundraising requirement described above consistent with SPMHA’s Policies & Procedures.

We are offering the raffle as a means to fulfil the fundraising requirement and “earn back” the $200. We have selected November 15th with that in mind to give you time to sell the tickets, while we understand that some may choose to just keep the tickets and have the cheque cashed. For those that pay by cheque, we will send a reminder as we get closer to November 15th to let you know that your cheque will be cashed.

Once player evaluations conclude and teams are formed, players will be provided with raffle tickets to sell. Each player will be  given forty $5 raffle tickets (40 x $5 = $200). In past raffles, many players have sold some tickets electronically & some tickets in-person – both avenues are possible with this raffle as well.

While this payment fulfills your family’s association fundraising requirement for the year, your team will have fundraising requirements that will be discussed as a team during your parent meeting (eg. U13 tournament hosted by SPMHA, team tournaments, etc.).

51.0 CODE OF CONDUCT AND ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
51.1 Membership and participation in the Association's activities is a privilege not a right.
Members, players and participants are required to abide by the Bylaws and Policies and
Procedures of the Association, and behavior is expected to mirror the spirit of the Bylaws,
Policies and Procedures, and this Code.
51.2 All members and participants of the Association shall respect other members, officials,
parent/guardians, players, fans, team officials, volunteers, Executive Board of Directors
members, employees and property of the Association. Any inappropriate conduct, threats,
harassment or abuse (including the use of profanity) directed towards game or team officials,
members, parent/guardians, players, fans, volunteers, Executive Board of Directors members,
employee or damage to the property of the Association or of another association will not be
tolerated.
51.3 All members, fans and participants of the Association shall respect the game of hockey and
shall behave in a manner so as not to make a travesty of the game.
51.4 The Association will not tolerate loud, obscene, obnoxious Coaches, Managers, Assistants,
Players, Parent/guardians, or Fans. Such individuals will be subject to disciplinary action as
outlined in the disciplinary section of this handbook.
51.5 Parent/guardians and fans are not permitted in the dressing rooms except as expressly
permitted by the respective Category Director and/or Coach to assist their child in changing
before or after a game.
51.6 In no circumstances is a parent/guardian or fan to enter the opposing teams dressing
room.
51.7 Officials are not to be consulted regarding any suspendable infraction.
51.8 Violation by any member, fan or participant of any provision of this Code of Conduct may
result in disciplinary action being taken by the Association against such individual as provided in
the Bylaws or the Operational Policies and Procedures of the Association.
51.9 Any player, parent, or spectator found to be participating in harassment or abuse of any
kind (including, but not limited to cyber-bullying, emails, social-media chatter or texting) will be
dealt with immediately and will face disciplinary action as follows:
a) First Offence: automatic 3 game suspension
b) Second Offence: (minimum) suspension to be determined by an in-person hearing
